Chronic Back Pain Doesn’t Have to Be Your “Normal” Anymore

Just about everyone has experienced back pain at some point. It may be a minor ache, a stabbing sensation when you move a certain way, or a severe radiating pain that has kept you bedridden for days or weeks. Pain in any area of the back is an indication that something is amiss, but a lack of pain doesn’t mean that everything is perfectly fine. Some people with severe scoliosis have reported little to no back pain, while those with only one minor subluxation (spinal misalignment) have been in debilitating pain.

Back pain is one of the main reasons people begin seeing a chiropractor, and although it’s unpleasant, back pain is a great tool for getting you in the door of your Lithia Springs chiropractor’s office and getting you on the road to better health and a better life.

Back Pain Can Be an Indication of Something More

Back pain is usually the result of a subluxation, or a misalignment of the spine. When one vertebra is twisted or pushed to one side, the muscles have to make up for the lack of balance, and that often results in sore back muscles. A minor subluxation can easily be corrected with a chiropractic adjustment. However, when subluxations are incredibly severe or if they are left unresolved, they can lead to many other issues in your body—not just in your back.

The spine protects the spinal cord, which all nerves in the body are connected to. All those nerves are also connected to your organs. So when a subluxation is present and interfering with nerve function, it then interferes with organ function as well.

Pain is usually one of the last symptoms to present itself when there is a problem in the body, so back pain […]

Back Pain Research

A chief complaint among people in the U.S. today is back pain.  Visits to the doctor due to this type of pain are numerous, as an average of 31 million Americans complain of suffering from back pain each year.  It can range from minor aches and pain to debilitating and severe pain that keeps you from working or performing everyday, small tasks.  But what is the cause of pain in the back? And what can be done about it?  The good news is that many are finding relief through chiropractic care.

Causes and Symptoms of Back Pain

Back pain is different for everyone.  For some, it may consist of stiffness and aches of the back.  For others, it could feel like specific pain that radiates outward or regular back spasms.  It can occur at any time throughout the day.  Sitting or standing for long periods of time may result in flare ups of back pain.  Too much movement or physical activity could also lead to more pain.  Whether your  pain is just starting or you suffer and have suffered from chronic pain for a long period of time, back pain should be addressed as soon as possible to ease discomfort and bring about much needed relief.

Methods for Managing Back Pain

When this type of pain hits, most people tend to reach for medications in an attempt to curb pain, but the effects of medication to ease pain are short-lived and the dependency upon medication could become a problem.  Doctors also recommend bed rest to alleviate back pain, but this may not be possible for some people.  Missing too much school or work is just not an option for many.  Thus, the cycle of pain continues.
